Andamooka Opal
Andamooka Opal is of exceptionally high quality and has become more difficult to source over the last few years. Australian opal from the Andamooka mining fields is amongst the best crystal opal Australia produces. Opal finds in and around the small South Australian community of Andamooka are less common these days than previously, mainly due to the lack of any new mining areas being identified in the area since 1971. Opal mining is still active in the area, although not at the levels experienced in the past.
