Coober Pedy Opal Shell-Skin
Crystal Fossil Opal
This opal shell skin comes from Coober Pedy; an area known around the world for it's mining of fossilized opal. The face has a unique broad-flash of which color depends entirely on what angle you view it, from one angle the flash is a lustrous gold/ orange hue, while another angle shows a dazzling red, turn it some more and the flash is an intense green. Where the broad-flash is not visible, there are generous displays of color that also change when you tilt the opal. While this specimen does have some cracks, it adds to the charm and history of this piece.
